People pay a lot of attention to decorating their living rooms because it is the most frequented area of every home. A nice, decorated living room specifically for your taste is very important because it will bring positive feelings and a pleasant atmosphere.

If you like nature and organic and natural materials, then a rustic style is ideal for you and your living room.

What is rustic style?

When you think about a wooden cottage on a mountain or coastal area or a Toscan house, you are thinking about rustic style. This style defines natural, rough elements. It brings a casual atmosphere to the house. Bringing rough wood material with imperfect lines will be a special spice in making your living room rustic. Your living room doesn’t have to look outdated, it can have a modern rustic look.

How to choose the right flooring?

Before you choose the right flooring for your living room, think about these factors. Think about your lifestyle and how you use the living room. As the living room is often the most frequent area in every home, consider buying a resistible and durable material. A common choice for living rooms is hardwood because of its durability. Laminate is also a popular and cheaper choice. These are great options because they are easy for cleaning and maintaining flooring. It’s a plus for a home with small children and pets..When you know what kind of material is perfect for you, go with the style. When we talk about rustic style, wood-look flooring is definitely a must-have in your living room. Rustic wood flooring is a cheaper solution than hardwood flooring . They made it of outer parts of the wood.

Find the right materials for the living room

You can find all materials for your living room in nature. Common materials are rough and unprocessed wood, stone, brick, etc. It is well known that these materials make the room warm and cozy. Use wood for furniture, stone, or bricks for the accent wall. If you have a fireplace, make that part of the wall with stone. Put a wooden mantle above the fireplace.

Use canvas, jute, and burlap for textiles. Wool will make the room warmer too.

Go with the lighting

Lighting in the living room is very important and usually goes for different purposes: ambient, task, and accent lighting. To make that rustic note, choose metal lighting with bronze, iron, forged silver, or zinc finishes. Rustic chandeliers fit very well in living rooms and give a charming look to the entire space. A log light fixture is a super idea if you want more wood in the living room. Handcrafts are always welcomed in homes.

When we talk about rustic furniture, it’s everything but not minimalistic. The main point of rustic furniture is to feel comfortable. So you will find oversized sofas, armchairs, or ottomans. This is perfect if you have a large living room or an open concept plan. Massive pieces of furniture will be more effective in larger rooms. Coffee tables are simple, made of wood without precise lines.

Do a final step- decoration

This is the last, but not the less important, part of giving the room rustic vibes. Common rustic colors are earth colors. Various tones of green, gray, brown, and fall colors can be used in choosing the colors for your decor and the total look of the living room.

Except for natural materials, bring nature into the living room with plants. Plants are the soul of every home, giving a more vivid look and atmosphere. Put a clay vase on the coffee table or a shelf. Clay figures are an excellent choice when we talk about rustic decoration. Don’t forget your sofa. Go with textures. A few cushions or a blanket will decorate the place with different colors. Place a painting or wooden art on the wall.

If you have enough space on your coffee table, make a pleasant mix of accessories. You can use a clay plate as a base and put different things on it. Put a few candles, a little plant, or a bronze figure. Another fabulous combination can be with a few books and a clay figure or a little plant on them.

Play with your decoration! Change them and you will refresh the look of your living room. Change your decoration every season. Put more plants during spring and summer days. Put clay figures during the fall and winter seasons. It’s a minor change, but very noticeable.

As we all want to feel comfortable when we spend time in our living rooms, rustic style defines that. Collect a lot of enjoyable moments in your new rustic living room.
