Hallway is a welcoming place and something we first see when we enter the house. It’s important to make the hallway practical, especially for shoes, but it’s nice to style and make it cozy.

When we talk about colors, let’s start with the size of your hallway. For small hallways, white color is the perfect solution. With white tones, your hallway will look bigger. Bigger hallways are lucky because you can play with colors. Bright colors can look very nice, otherwise dark colors can make your hallway stylish. Grey, dark blue, brown, brown-gray are excellent colors for the big hallways.

If you want to achieve a brighter and airy look in your hallway, go with white, cream and pastel tones.

Say no to massive furniture

Hallway is a place where we leave our shoes. Otherwise, massive furniture can be too much for the hallway, especially for small ones. A suitable shoe storage is essential in the hallway. You can buy a set with a bench on the top, or place a bench or an armchair separately. If you have enough space, place a hallway set. Long hallways can have a drawer. Leave your walls plain. Hang a nice key box on the wall. It’s functional, and can look very nice and decorative.

Style your radiator

A radiator can look beautiful if you decorate it. Paint the radiator with the same color as your wall or decoration. It will be beautiful if your wall is painted in a specific color, not white, so you can use the same tone for the radiator.

Another solution is to cover your radiator. This is very modern, beautiful, and it will transform the hallway. It’s also very practical for homes with small children, because it will protect them from burnings. You can find them in a variety of colors, sizes and finishes.

Find a spot for the mirror

Mirrors and light can help the hallways to look more spacious, so it’s perfect to have a mirror in the hallway. Most people like to check the outfit before they go out, so that is another good reason for it.

You should place the mirror near the main door or on the opposite side of the light source. If you have a console table, place a mirror above it. Place a mirror six to eight inches higher than the table. Common mirror height is above the eye level, which is 60-65 inches from the floor.

It’s time for flooring

During the bad weather, we often need to clean the hallway. That is the reason to choose a durable and easy to clean material. The best solutions are vinyl and tiles. Vinyl is perfect because it’s durable, moisture resilient and you can clean it easily. Tiles are very popular, and you can find them in various, popular designs. Porcelain tiles are excellent for the hallway, because they are very durable.

Decorate your hallway

It’s time for finishing touches. Make your hallway a more welcoming space. Bring some colors in the hallway. Choose your favorite color and place it.

Choosing a rug for your hallway can be an excellent idea. Your space will look warmer and cozier. The best rugs for hallways are synthetic fiber rugs, because they are stain resistant and you can clean them easily. The lengths of your rug should cover at least ¾ length of the corridor. Except for runner rugs, small rugs will also look beautiful, especially for small hallways.

Make your hallway welcoming and beautiful for your guests and you.
